Designed for rising 6th-12th graders, Hill's Executive Function Skills class introduces students to proven strategies that support success with organization, time management and sustaining attention, task initiation and following directions, notetaking, studying and test-taking, planning and prioritization, self-advocacy, goal setting, and moving new information to long-term memory.
What to expect:
- Using engaging, multisensory techniques, individual skills are explicitly taught and practiced throughout the course.
- Students create a personal reference book with their goals, commitments, strategies, and tips learned throughout the sessions. This book serves as an ongoing resource for independent work after course completion.
- Parents and caregivers are part of the process, as helping a student develop executive function skills is a team effort!
- During the first class, parents/caregivers have their own session providing an overview of the skills their child will learn and strategies to support and coach them at home.
- During the final class session, parents/caregivers join their child to hear their reflections, executive function goals, and plans for applying their new skills in daily life.
- Parents receive access to two modules of Hill's Executive Function Skills Essentials online course for additional strategies and support.
